Grow Financial Hosts Cookout at MacDill Air Force Base

Whether in a closet or at a cookout, Grow Financial loves to serve the military families at MacDill Air Force Base! Christen Burden, market manager, helped to organize a military appreciation cookout at the base to thank the guests for their service on Friday, February 9.

“Being that the original store was founded on MacDill Air Force Base, our cookout is a way for us to partner with other local base businesses and organizations in an effort to create a community appreciation event with those that serve either in uniform or as a civilian,” Burden said.

Since its inception in one of the base’s broom closets in 1955, Grow has had a passion for supporting the men and women of the U.S. military. The credit union started with exclusive banking services for the military community that wasn’t welcome at local banks, and it continues to serve families on the base and families from all walks of life.

More than 50 years later, Grow is still connecting with this group through community events. All residents of the base were invited to the day’s cookout to enjoy hamburgers hot off the grill.

“When we do events such as the cookout,” Burden said, “it draws attention to our location and allows us to interact with active duty and civilian personnel that we otherwise would not have had the chance to meet.”

It’s an honor for Grow Financial to have the opportunity to serve the men and women who make sacrifices for our great nation.
