Grow Financial Sponsors Scholarship Program at MLK Parade Gala

For the third year in a row, we’ve sponsored the MLK Scholarship Program in partnership with the Dr. Martin Luther King Parade Foundation, Inc., which provides college funds to three deserving young people in our local community. Recipients of this year’s scholarships were announced at the 34th Annual MLK Parade Gala on January 5, 2024. This beloved event spotlights community achievements from the past year and showcases local leaders who exemplify the ideals of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

About the MLK Parade Gala

The MLK Parade Gala’s theme for 2024, Passing the Torch, emphasized the importance of engaging the next generation in social justice. Chantel Negron, AVP of Asset Protection, attended the gala along with several other team members from Grow. She shared, “As someone who has personally experienced the power of education, I’m proud Grow continues to sponsor the Martin Luther King Scholarship Program. Our organization believes in the power of education to transform lives. By championing dreams, fostering growth and investing in our community, we can help make things grow.”

The MLK Scholarship Program benefits Hillsborough County students who have exhibited a commitment to academic excellence and community service. Congratulations to each scholarship recipient! We’re thrilled to be part of your journeys and wish you the best in all your endeavors.

In addition to awarding scholarships to deserving young people, the Dr. Martin Luther King Parade Foundation, Inc. honored four outstanding leaders for their ongoing service in inspiring future generations. The 2024 Community Heroes are Tina Young, CEO of Project Link; Ross Anderson, founder of Men of Vision; Tavis Myrick, founder of Gentlemen’s Quest; and Victor Crist, retired Florida state senator and founding member and chair of the University Area Community Development Corporation.
