Grow Financial Celebrates Innovation at Synapse Summit

Innovation was integral in the foundation of Grow Financial and continues to be a fundamental tenet of our organization as we strive to serve our members in new and innovative ways. The 2019 Synapse Summit was a great opportunity for Grow to support innovation and entrepreneurship in our local Tampa Bay market and connect with our community.

The annual summit brought together the best people, ideas and technologies in Tampa and beyond for two days of learning, exploring and celebrating the possibilities of technology and innovation. Over the course of the summit, 400+ speakers and 300+ exhibitors helped position Florida as an innovation center, and we are excited to see how the concepts of our local entrepreneurs and startups will impact the future of the financial services industry.

Two of Grow’s executives took center stage and participated on panels and breakout sessions during the event.

Kent Paro, Grow’s VP of Operations, spoke on a panel discussing talent where he shared insight into the key role innovative thinking plays in Grow’s talent acquisition process. Paro also spoke from his own experience in transitioning from a distinguished career as a U.S. Navy SEAL to the private sector and shared how military skills translated to a successful career at a top company.

“I am so grateful that Grow Financial hires for talent and culture fit before skill set. They knew I had no financial industry background, but they also knew I brought other intangible skills to the table. I found my military service and experience to be a great asset in the civilian workplace.” Paro said.

Gail Wean, Executive Vice President at Grow, participated in a breakout session on designing a winning company culture. Wean stressed the importance of listening to employees in building culture and that it’s a work in progress.

“It’s really our team members that make the difference, and they’ve really defined the culture here.” Wean said.

Cultivating top talent and a winning company culture is a priority for Grow and we’ve recently been recognized as a 2018 Top 100 Workplace by Fortune Magazine and by the Tampa Bay Times as a Top Place to Work for 2018.
