Grow Financial Prepares for Disaster Recovery

You’re not the only one who has to prepare for a potential natural disaster. Grow Financial does too! What happens if a hurricane comes through the area and we no longer have the necessary facilities to serve our members’ needs? Amber Morris, Grow’s manager for business continuity and physical security, leads the organization’s efforts to practice and prepare for that situation.

“We want to make sure the members have what they need,” Morris said. “Going through a disaster is never fun for anybody, but making sure our members needs are met or that we can help them with whatever financial difficulties they may face is what it comes down to.”

In order to serve our members after a hurricane or similar natural disaster, Grow has a Mobile Response Unit prepared to carry out any and all duties usually fulfilled at headquarters as soon as possible after a storm.

We recently took the time to practice our plan for the days immediately following any disaster. That begins with bringing in a mobile facility that is 12 feet by 56 feet and can hold up to 16 team members. All of the support functions that typically take place at headquarters can be fulfilled in this space, stocked with all the necessary technology and supplies. This ensures that payments and deposits would continue to be processed, the member contact center would be available to answer questions, and anything else members will need would be accessible immediately following a disaster. The same process can also be implemented at any of our stores that may become unavailable.

“If the day ever comes when headquarters is unavailable, we’ve gone through it and we know what our immediate needs are in those first days following the disaster,” Morris said. “We want to make sure we can react as well as we can.”

We’re ready for anything this hurricane season. Are you? Check out this article to learn more about how you get yourself prepared.
