The City of Tampa’s MLK Parade, hosted annually on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, is a longstanding tradition for our local community. Grow is a proud sponsor of this family-friendly event honoring one of our greatest national heroes. This year, we’re honored to support the Dr. Martin Luther King Parade Foundation, Inc. in a new way — through their MLK Scholarship Program.

About the MLK Scholarship Program

The Dr. Martin Luther King Parade Foundation Scholarship Program benefits students who have demonstrated a commitment to both academic excellence and community service. To be considered for this prestigious scholarship program, students must submit an essay addressing the topic “What Dr. Martin Luther King’s life means to me and how I will live his dream,” along with letters of recommendation and a record of community service. Three different scholarships are awarded, including the First-Generation College Student Award, the Most Improved Student Award and the Academic Excellence Award, each of which benefit a deserving student as they embark on their college journey.

According to the Parade Foundation, “Dr. King was a staunch supporter of education for all, and the Parade Foundation wants to honor his dream by doing the same.” As an organization, we believe that everyone can make a positive impact on the world through serving others, and we recognize that the youth of today are the leaders and change-makers of tomorrow.
