Grow Financial Supports Clothes To Kids

Clothe a Kid. Change a life. The Grow Financial Foundation is proud to support the powerful mission of Clothes To Kids, a non-profit organization providing new and quality used clothing to low-income or in crisis school-age children.

Throughout the month of July, the Grow Financial Foundation hosted a clothing drive in all of Grow Financial’s Florida store locations. All the clothes donated by employees and members were given to the nearest Clothes To Kids location in Clearwater, St. Petersburg or their newest spot—Tampa.

In addition to clothing donations, the Grow Financial Foundation also organized volunteer efforts and provided financial support as one of the Tampa original donors. Tampa shopping manager Julie Bednarski is excited for the opportunity to work with partners like the Grow Financial Foundation as they begin serving a new community.

“To take on a venture to open a new store in a new county is quite an expense, so we’re very happy to have this kind of support,” Bednarski said.

Clothes To Kids may be setting up a new location, but their mission remains the same. Since opening its doors in 2003, the organization has distributed more than 128,000 wardrobes to students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch through Pinellas or Hillsborough County Schools. A wardrobe consists of five pairs of new socks, five pairs of underwear, five tops, four bottoms, one pair of shoes, one dress (optional), one jacket (season), and fun accessories, as available.

As the school year rapidly approaches, Clothes To Kids will accept all the help they can get, according to development director Jennifer Jacobs.

“It’s very important that everyone look in their closets, look in their dresser drawers, and see if they have clothes that they can donate to us,” Jacobs said. “Kids come in all shapes and sizes and so do our clothes.”
