The story of Don Julio’s Authentic Mexican stretches back decades. In the early 70’s, Julio and Esther Rodriguez migrated to Tampa Bay from Mexico. Esther had always held a deep passion for cooking Mexican food. By the 80’s and early 90’s, that passion led her to offer authentic dishes to friends and family in West Tampa, which were met with universal acclaim. Fast forward to 2018, when the Rodriguez family opened the doors to their Tampa restaurant using Julio’s name and Esther’s iconic recipes. This week they’re offering a Carnitas Tacos Meal at no charge, thanks to help from Grow On Us. The meal includes 3 carnitas tacos, Mexican home cooked rice, refried beans, Florida limes, a soft drink, and Tampa sweet and spicy homemade sauce.
